What is MAT?
A dynamic approach to treating muscular imbalances—often eliminating
pain instantly through fingertip pressure applied to weak or inhibited
muscles and joints.
Who will benefit from MAT?
Almost anyone suffering from pain. Many MAT patients have ongoing back,
shoulder or neck pain. Those who suffer from fibromyalgia, lyme disease,
and arthritis can also benefit. MAT can be used to enhance current
physical therapy or as a stand-alone rehabilitation program. Many
clients have been able to avoid pending surgery.
MAT is great for anyone who is involved with sports. By correcting body
alignment, commonly found in many athletes, golf, tennis or equestrian
performance can be improved. MAT is used by various professional sports
teams including the Denver Broncos, Utah Jazz and New York Giants.
What should I wear?
Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing. Your will only be asked to
remove your shoes. |

What People Say about MAT.
“I’ve worked with a lot of massage therapists, chiropractors and
physical therapists. The Muscle Activation Techniques method is one of
the most successful out there and will make each type of practitioner
better at his or her job” Bill Romanowski, retired NFL player.
“My back pain went away after only 1 session” Gary Maron, client
“My knee has been bad for quite a few years now. When I first started
working with Greg (creator of MAT), he watched the way I walked. He saw
that I was biomechanically out of balance and put added stress on my bad
knee. He helped me get my knee to work right, and has helped me
tremendously.” Jeff Honacek, professional athlete.
“I was finally able to get a good nights sleep after suffering from
shoulder pain for months” Sue White, client

Who Provides MAT?
David Seaman provides the treatment at the Millbrook
Training Center & Spa. He is a Muscle Activation Techniques Specialist
who holds a Masters of Education Degree in Exercise Physiology, and is a
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. In addition, he has been
a personal trainer for more than twenty years.
"For 24 years I endured regularly repeating episodes
of back pain—I tried everything to correct the problem, states Dave.
"Physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, stetching, ice,
heat, muscle relaxants, postural training, you name it. I even became a
personal fitness trainer, partly so I could train and condition my back
to lessen the pain and disfunction. All of the treatments helped, but
still I had a t least 8-10 significant episodes a year, involving missed
work and serious pain and disability. Then I discovered MAT. After my
initial two treatments I was able to go into the gym and start squatting
again—an exercise I avoided for 20 years. The shoulder impingement that
had kept me from using the bench press suddenly wasn’t there anymore. I
even had an increase in the range of motion in my left ankle which
hadn’t moved that way since high school. And my back? Well, last year I
saw the chiropractor only 3 times & didn’t miss any work. Since
completing the MAT training, I’ve been able to help others function
better & have less pain."
In addition to his work at MTC, Dave is an adjunct lecturer at
Dutchess Community College. He is also a Certified Aquatic Instructor
and American Red Cross Certified First AID/CPR/AED Instructor & a 3rd
Degree Black Belt. |
